Tips from the Pros: Grilled Salad

August 15, 2011

Over the years, I’ve found that grilled salads can be a great way to take a backyard cookout, a beach picnic, or even a pre-game tailgate party to a whole other level.

Whether lightly charring the romaine for smoky twist on the classic Caesar salad or creating a flavorful layered dish like my grilled watermelon, roasted corn and goat cheese one above, the possibilities are truly endless.

In order to get your creative energy flowing, we’ve compiled a few favorites from the Grilling.com recipe archives!

First up we’ve got a Grilled White Bread Country Salad, combining crunchy Texas toast, cherry tomatoes and grilled onions and peppers to create a creamy compliment to almost any meal.

Personally, I can never get enough grilled corn.  This ‘Cued Corn Salad is a perfect change-up from the everyday corn on the cob. By combining it with feta cheese, roasted poblano peppers and onions,  you’ve created an instant favorite.

Finally, nothing beats beets…especially grilled ones.  This Cued Country Beet Salad takes grilled beets, adds in some fresh beans, pearl onions and goat cheese and sends it over the top with a grapefruit vinaigrette.

I am a huge fan of grilled salads. I really like to see that I am not the only one that loves grilled salads. I love the smoky flavor you can infuse into the pieces of making a fresh salad. I am going to try the watermelon salad it looked like it will be very tasty.
